To make the transition from desktop to mobile smoother for end-users, we have introduced a new option to receive the identity verification link directly via SMS.
Users who begin the IDV process on a desktop device can now enter their phone number and receive a verification link via SMS. This provides a faster and more intuitive alternative to scanning a QR code or manually copying a link.

Key features:
- SMS link delivery: Users can enter their phone number at the device selection step and receive an active session link instantly via text message.
- IP-based country pre-selection: The phone number input automatically pre-selects the user’s country based on their IP address, reducing friction.
- Secure messaging: The SMS message includes a clear security notice instructing users not to share the link with anyone.
Why it matters:
Around 70% of idenfy’s IDV users complete verification on mobile. For users who start on desktop, the handoff has historically relied solely on a QR code – a step that can create unnecessary friction. SMS delivery removes that barrier, offering a familiar and widely accessible method to continue verification on mobile, ultimately improving conversion rates and reducing drop-off at the device selection step.
